NBCC GOBLET GRAB 2010 The New Brunswick Crafts Council presents the 4th Annual Goblet Grab on March 26th from 7-9 pm at Gallery Connexion in Fredericton. Tickets are $50 each and include a hand-made goblet filled once with wine. If you enjoy a glass of wine, something exquisite to drink from, and the opportunity to participate in a raffle of fine craft, this is the event for you! Fine craft artists of the New Brunswick Crafts Council have generously donated handcrafted goblets and wine drinking vessels. For some craftspeople, making a wine goblet is just part of the trade. For others, who work in mediums that don’t typically materialize into drinking containers, the challenge has been greater. A little ingenuity, innovation and creativity required for outstanding results. Some goblets are whimsical, some are striking, some are humorous, and some are simply lovely. All are fantastic! Starting on March 8th a sampling of goblets will be displayed in the windows of Bejewel, Botinicals, and The Blue Door Restaurant leading up to the event, so make sure you stop by these locations to see which goblets you want to grab! A selection of the goblets can also be previewed on our website, www.nbcraftscouncil.ca. Proceeds from the Goblet Grab support the efforts and programming of the New Brunswick Crafts Council. Please join us, and our sponsors 6 Color Copy, Ginger Design, Pump House Brewery, Shanie Stozek Pottery, and CSJEvents, in celebration of fine craft and our arts community in Fredericton. Don’t miss out on this opportunity for a fun evening of good food, good people, and your very own piece of one of a kind, hand-made New Brunswick fine craft! Goblet Grab tickets are on a special Early Bird rate of $ 40 per ticket until March 12th, so pick up your ticket early to take advantage of this discounted price. Tickets will be $50 each from March 13th until the event on March 26th. Tickets are limited, so buy early!
Hand to Hand Opening Reception February 19th, 5-7pm at the NB Crafts Council Gallery 732 Charlotte Street, Fredericton, NB From February 19th to March 19th, 2010, the New Brunswick Crafts Council Gallery will host an exhibition titled “Hand to Hand”, inspired by the Vancouver Olympics 2010 and the concept of the Olympic flame being passed across the country, and also by the wonderful work seen throughout the province. It struck the curator, George Fry, that our New Brunswick tradition of top quality craft objects is very definitely being passed on “Hand to Hand”. The work of ten senior artists and ten emerging artists will be displayed together, highlighting the connection between the history and future of fine craft in New Brunswick. The senior artists in this exhibition, members of the New Brunswick Crafts Council, represent some of the province’s most accomplished craftspeople, with rich histories of production and exhibition. The emerging artists represent a next generation of producers who will certainly have long and fruitful careers in craft. By celebrating the old and encouraging the new in exhibitions like this one, together we can ensure that the torch of excellence in fine craft continues to be passed on, Hand to Hand. The opening of Hand to Hand takes place Friday, February 19th from 5pm-7pm at the New Brunswick Crafts Council Gallery, located on the main floor of the Charlotte Street Arts Centre in Fredericton, N.B.
Call for Photos

We’re looking for your photos - of festivals past, and of your own work - for promotional material. This is an excellent opportunity for free exposure for your work; our posters are shown in galleries, shops and studios all through the province. All you need to do is send us your pictures! Selection of pictures depends on several factors, but you can help your chances by adhering to a couple of guidelines. First, we need large pictures for quality printing - the higher dpi and larger size the better, in most cases. We can always reduce and crop as needed later on. Second, well composed and balanced pictures are preferable to snapshots; there are some helpful tips for photographing craft at Boundless Gallery’s website. Third, of course, send the pictures in as quickly as possible! You can email them (though some pictures might be too large to send quickly) or burn them onto CDs. CDs, prints, or negatives can be dropped off at our new offices in the Charlotte Street Arts Centre or mailed to PO Box 1231 Station A, Fredericton NB, E3B 5C8....
