Hand to Hand

From February 19th to March 19th, 2010, the New Brunswick Crafts Council Gallery will host an exhibition titled “Hand to Hand”, inspired by the Vancouver Olympics 2010 and the concept of the Olympic flame being passed across the country, and also by the wonderful work seen throughout the province. It struck the curator, George Fry, that our New Brunswick tradition of top quality craft objects is very definitely being passed on “Hand to Hand”. The work of ten senior artists and ten emerging artists will be displayed together, highlighting the connection between the history and future of fine craft in New Brunswick.

The senior artists in this exhibition, members of the New Brunswick Crafts Council, represent some of the province’s most accomplished craftspeople, with rich histories of production and exhibition. The emerging artists represent a next generation of producers who will certainly have long and fruitful careers in craft. By celebrating the old and encouraging the new in exhibitions like this one, together we can ensure that the torch of excellence in fine craft continues to be passed on, Hand to Hand.

The opening of Hand to Hand takes place Friday, February 19th from 5pm-7pm at the New Brunswick Crafts Council Gallery, located on the main floor of the Charlotte Street Arts Centre in Fredericton, N.B.
